Expert School Refurbishment at College Park

College Park School required a varied package of refurbishment and improvement works to be completed during the seven-week summer holiday period, ensuring all areas were ready for pupils and staff returning for the new academic year.

While the programme provided sufficient time for the planned works, the main challenge was coordinating the different elements efficiently. Several specialist trades were required throughout the project, with certain activities dependent on preceding works being completed before following trades could begin.

As a SEND school, we also gave particular consideration to the quality and suitability of the finished environment. All areas needed to be fully completed, tested and ready for immediate use before the school reopened.

Ash Technical Services planned the works around the summer closure, establishing a clear sequence for each area and coordinating the required trades and materials ahead of their involvement on site.

The project was managed through a structured programme, with different workstreams progressing concurrently where appropriate. This allowed the team to make effective use of the available holiday period while maintaining a logical sequence between building works, services installations and final finishes.

Regular coordination between the Ash project team and specialist contractors ensured areas were made available for following trades as planned. Progress was reviewed throughout the project, allowing any minor changes or additional requirements to be incorporated without affecting the overall completion date.

Quality control and snagging were also undertaken progressively rather than being left until the end of the programme, helping ensure completed areas could be handed back efficiently and to the required standard.

The works at College Park School were successfully completed within the summer holiday period and handed back in time for the start of the new academic year.

The project provided the school with a series of refurbished and improved spaces, with all associated building works, services and finishes completed and ready for immediate use.

College Park was delivered alongside Ash's larger summer project at Queensmill School, demonstrating the team's ability to manage multiple education projects concurrently while maintaining dedicated management, programme control and quality across each site.

The completed project provides another example of Ash Technical Services working effectively within the education sector, using school closure periods to deliver improvements with minimal impact on pupils, staff and the day to day operation of the school.
